In the late summer months of 2014 I embarked on an adventure in Liberia. As many of you recall West Africa was under peril from the worst Ebola Virus Disease epidemic in history. This particular adventure was on work time, but it was perhaps one of the most rewarding I have experienced. I was in the capitol city of Monrovia leading a team given the mission to assist the Liberian National Police with the challenges of policing during such a dangerous outbreak. When our team arrived we found a frightened but dedicated group of law enforcement professionals eager to learn. After four weeks of daily training I truly feel we left a nation better prepared to overcome the challenges of life in such a challenging environment. Although ravaged from a recent civil war and a current disease the people still shared kindness, hope and friendship.
